Visited by Angels
God's messengers come in all shapes and sizes

They say angels come most commonly to children and primitive people, to the
innocents and saints, who maybe haven’t clouded their vision with so much
sophistication.… There are stories of Russian cosmonauts seeing angels in space;
French, English and German soldiers seeing angels during a battle; angels who
come in dreams, and many, many more.
But there’s a more mundane angelic ministry that’s not so spectacular and yet
is equally wonderful. The word “angel” means simply
“messenger.” Angels are the messengers of God. And we’ve all known
angels.
You’ve known angels too. People who have
communicated some of God’s love and grace to you. … Maybe you’ve been an
angel for someone; you’ve been one of God’s messengers. And, maybe many of you
have known some of the other kinds of angels, not of flesh and blood.
—Lowell Grisham
Below is a collection of essays, interviews and reflections on angels. Whether
spirit, flesh or something else, they all point in the direction of heaven.

ANGELS, GUIDES AND GUARDIANS
Author Sophy Burnham is known for her books and presentations about angels. Here she talks about how we can identify God's messengers, and why they come to visit.
ANGELS AMONG US
Vinita Hampton Wright is a strong believer in angels. She did her research in A Catalogue of Angels, and here answers our questions about how and why angels appear, and how we know they're there.
WHO'S AN ANGEL?
Perhaps we are visited by angels all the time—messengers who bring the love of God into our lives.
AN ANGEL AT THE SHORE
"Why would God use such messengers? Maybe
because they were the only
way God could get God's message across to
humans … the only way we
would pay attention. But then one
wonders
why most of us have never seen winged creatures like those portrayed in
the great paintings from the past."
THINKING OF ANGELS

ANGEL MARY
Some angels are unseen, but this angel, Mary, was very real to two young boys at boarding school.
