Devotions for Easter Week

GOOD FRIDAY

Now Simon Peter was standing and warming himself. They said to him, “Are you not also one of his disciples?” He denied it and said, “I am not.” One of the servants of the high priest, a kinsman of the man whose ear Peter had cut off, asked, “Did I not see you in the garden with him?” Peter again denied it; and at once the cock crowed. —John 18:25-27

HOLY SATURDAY

Now in the place where he was crucified there was a garden, and in the garden a new tomb where no one had ever been laid. So because of the Jewish holiday of preparation, as the tomb was close at hand, they laid Jesus there. —John 19: 41-42

EASTER DAY

“Woman, why are you weeping? Whom do you seek?” Supposing him to be the gardener, she said to him, “Sir, if you have carried him away, tell me where you have laid him, and I will take him away.” Jesus said to her, “Mary.” She turned and said to him in Hebrew, “Rabboni.”— John 20:15-16

MONDAY IN EASTER WEEK

Suddenly Jesus met them and said, “Greetings!” And they came to him, took hold of his feet, and worshiped him.—Matthew 28:9

TUESDAY

Mary Magdalene went and announced to the disciples, “I have seen the Lord;” and she told them that he had said these things to her.— John 20:18

WEDNESDAY

While they were walking and discussing, Jesus himself came near and went with them, but their eyes were kept from recognizing him.—Luke 24:15

THURSDAY

Jesus said, “Look at my hands and my feet; see that it is I myself.”—Luke 24:40

FRIDAY

There they gave a dinner for him.— John 21:12

SATURDAY

But when they heard he was alive and had been seen by Mary Magdalene, they would not believe it.—Mark16:11
