Stephen Kawalek
architect
New Jersey

Stephen Kawalek is a licensed architect and partner in a family-owned design firm in urban New Jersey. Steve is a graduate of NJIT and New York University, where he double-majored in German and English Literature with a specialization in writing, and minored in Religious Studies. An avowed Renaissance man, Steve has lifelong interests in music, art, literature, science, languages, politics and religion.

As a Baptist alumnus of a Jesuit high school married to a Jewish woman, Steve feels uniquely qualified for something…he just doesn’t know what. For now, he is content to while away his free time playing guitar and singing in an amateur rock band, competing in the American Crossword Puzzle Tournament, and renovating the house that he shares with his wife Lisa in Bayonne, New Jersey.

Delving into the book’s gripping narrative, however, it soon became clear that the plainspoken, emphatic tone of the two title phrases was purely evocative of the language of the story’s primary narrator.
