The Very Reverend Robert Giannini has served as Dean and Rector of Christ Church Cathedral Indianapolis since 1990. He is the author of numerous popular and scholarly theological articles, and has lectured internationally and taught as a visiting professor at numerous institutions of higher learning. An active national Episcopal Church leader, he is chairman of the board of trustees of the Episcopal Church's General Theological Seminary; a member of the North American Deans' Association; and a member/former chair of the Advisory Committee to the Anglican Observer at the United Nations.

Dean Giannini was born in New York and moved to Winter Park, Florida as a child. He earned his Bachelor's degree from the University of the South, Sewanee, Tennessee and his Master's in Divinity from New York's General Theological Seminary. After serving parishes in Sarasota and Miami he and his family moved to St. Andrews, Scotland, where he earned a Ph.D. in Christian Ethics. From 1976 to 1981 he was Director of the Episcopal University Center at the University of South Florida, Tampa, and adjunct professor of religion. In 1981 he became Dean of the Cathedral Church of St. Peter in St. Petersburg, Florida. In 1986 he was called to be Dean of the School of Theology of the University of the South.

In addition to various other activities in the Episcopal Church and in the community, Robert Giannini currently serves on the board of the Fine Arts Society of Indianapolis.
